Ian Cox was appointed to AFF’s Council in 1999, and became Secretary in 2006. He edited AFF’s newsletters from 2006 to 2015.
Ian has accounting and company secretarial qualifications. His business career was mainly as Company Secretary of large Australian corporations.
Ian is passionate about conserving Australia’s flora. Since joining the Australian Plants Society in the late 1980s he has propagated and grown many native plants, especially threatened species. In 2020 he was awarded Life Membership of the Australian Plants Society NSW.
He has served on the Nature Conservation Council of NSW and on the Cattai Catchment Management Committee. He was an active firefighter with the Rural Fire Service, and is keenly interested in the recovery of bushland after fire. He enjoys bushwalks and observing nature.
